Peter Hook and the Light At the Wiltern May 18, 2018

38 years ago, the world lost Ian Curtis. On Friday night, Peter Hook played tribute to his Joy Division band mate by performing a one off performance of the Unknown Pleasures and Closer album. In front of a packed house at the Wiltern, Peter Hook and the Light gave an emotional performance. Of course, this concert started with the very welcome text from my friend Bill asking if I was interested in coming along. Even though I was nursing a cold, I knew this was going to be a special night.

Opening for Peter Hook was LA band El Ten Eleven. They played a fairly short set, but as I had not seen them live, anything was good for me. I have been wanting to see them live for quite some time.

Before the Unknown Pleasures and Closer sets, Hook played a short set with some New Order favorites. Temptation is one of my favorite songs, so I was pretty stoked to see this live.

You can read all about the concert I am sure on other sites, but what I would want you to do is to revisit the Joy Division catalog and appreciate what they did in such a short period of time. During the performance I couldn’t help think of my late friend Jennifer. We spent a lot of time listening to Joy Division when we were young and had she still been alive, I would have definitely bragged that I would be going to the show.

Check out some of the photos and videos and I hope that you can go to a show soon and brag about it to one of your close friends!
