Concert Review Lookback – Calexico at Lincoln Hall Chicago 5/31/15

This is an opportunity to take a quick look back at some concerts that I have attended. Most of these articles will be brief and hopefully I am remembering things correctly! Apologies if I forget key details. – Wilt

Back in 2015 I was heading to Chicago for the IRCE show. The IRCE is a big e-commerce conference that I had been wanting to attend and Five Ten graciously sent me to attend. For some reason that escapes me to this day, I had a random thought that maybe Calexico would be playing in the Chicago area. I am not sure why I thought this, but I checked out the Calexico web site and I saw the show listed. I quickly changed my flight to leave one day earlier and I was on my way.

Lincoln Hall is located in Lincoln Park and was an amazing venue to catch Calexico. I took a train from downtown and took a little stroll through the neighborhoods before the show. Gaby Moreno opened the show and really got the crowd going. I met a nice Brazilian woman at the show that now resides in Chicago. She was pretty excited for Calexico.

Here is the set list from the show:

  1. Falling From the Sky

Some highlights of the night:

  • I am a big fan of Jairo and he was on fire that night
  • It was great to see Calexico and Gaby Moreno perform together
  • The crowd was really enthusiastic
  • I met some hardcore Calexico fans on the train back to my hotel. One couple was from California and it seemed like we had been to all the same shows.
